About Us

The French school of Ljubljana is a multilingual kindergarten and school that, since 1992, has welcomed children of all nationalities from 1 up to 18 years old.

The French School is approved by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and follows the French Educational Program. The school is also accredited by the Slovenian Ministry of Education and Sports. This accreditation allows the pupils to switch easily between the two systems.

Children of the French school become bi-and often trilingual. This is an asset that gives a head-start to our kids not only in terms of communication skills but also in many other aspects of their lives.

We offer to pupils from 1 to 18 years of age a dynamic quality education in French, in a warm environment. Through the teaching of mathematics, history, geography, civic education, children learn: autonomy, critical sense and sense of problem solving.

Student's curiosity is stimulated by a scientific research approach.

Children enjoy a cultural openness of quality, whether during school or extracurricular activities. Class projects included in the school project offer a coherent, comprehensive and dynamic teaching.

We offer to each student a training that allows them to acquire a multilingual / multicultural education, in addition to the fundamental knowledge necessary for their university formation and future professional insertion, as well as essential references oriented to the exercise of an autonomous and responsible citizenship.

We also use different methods to initiate and involve children who are beginning to learn French. Children whose mother tongue is Slovene are accompanied in their progression. Their progress is usually spectacular in a short time. Many of our teachers are also bilingual French / Slovenian. Slovenian is taught to all students from kindergarten. From the CP, pupils benefit from 3 hours of Slovenian weekly, according to the Slovenian regulations.

The EFL proposes a bicultural education at all levels of schooling. In this way, it allows students to understand and integrate the values of French and Slovenian culture.

Our school is supported by the network of The Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), the largest network of international schools in the world. The AEFE is present in 135 countries with 494 establishments, and has a unique experience of enrolling more than 320 000 students. The curriculum is in line with the pedagogical process of the French Ministry of Education.
